Not the typical style of book I read but it was a pleasant surprise. Good character development and unique storyline. Would recommend to others who enjoy thriller fiction novels.

Not my typical genre of choice so I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the story grabbed me from the get-go and kept me intrigued for the duration. The clever balance between the modern story and the historical tale had me turning the pages as the two stories developed and intertwined. Through compelling characters and well thought out story lines, the reader eventually experiences a meshing together of stories which creates an exciting and satisfying conclusion. It was a full bodied and rich read, and the depth of the characters and setting allowed me to enjoy the story on many levels. As a mystery reader typically, I found enough wonder and when left to my own inferences it allowed my mind to create different scenarios and endings along the way. An enjoyable read, and I’m anxiously awaiting another adventure.

Because of my love for Physics the title did raise an eyebrow, and in that I was not disappointed.
Excellent story development and shifting, subtle clues combined with the unexpected made it hard to put down.
Dealing with reality the homework was done, but I feel it was more from experiences, it did an excellent job of placing you there without the descriptions becoming cumbersome. The same could be said of the characters.
I would highly recommend adding this one to your book list and I will definitely pick up the next in the series.

it was amazing
Goodreads Review-
What a page turner! I was addicted to this book!
We begin in Paris with professor Laplace and his search for antique chess pieces, little does he know when he stumbles upon an old Samurai sword, what kind of evil will be unleashed on the streets of Paris.
This story jumps between 4 narratives which at first, I wasn’t sure I was a fan of, but I actually came to enjoy every different perspective on the story. Split between Paris and Japan, we follow Laplace, Toju-a Japanese Monk, Clovis- a Parisian Chief Inspector and Chiyo- the daughter of a Samurai in 1634 Japan.
I was intrigued by the plot, it felt unique and almost written like it could be a movie or a TV series. I felt the characters were fleshed out well, 3D enough for us to feel emotional for them.
Beautifully written and throughly enjoyable. I can’t wait until the next book!
